The world is really changing

When I started working, some 15 years ago, the technological mono-culture was the trend. The giants on our business didn't invest enough on system heterogeneous integration - to say the least.

Now the world is definitely changing. One of the sample I like the most is the Silverlight demo some folks at Microsoft has been presenting (sorry, couldn't find a link, just heard it a couple of times on DotNetRocks).

On this demo, we get to play with:

  • developing a Silverlight application on Windows
  • deploying it on LAMP - on Ubuntu, I believe
  • browsing it on Safari on a Mac
  • (back on Windows) remote debugging it on Visual Studio
  • we can do all of this on VMs on a Mac
On a next version we could always get some data over REST developed NetBeans on Solaris OS, or WebSphere MQ. Sky is the limit!
